Timothy Leigh Evans (1959-2019)

The whole ensemble mourned Timothy Leigh Evans, colleague and friend, who died on September 2, 2019. On November 21, 2019, the musicians dedicated a memorial concert in Munich to celebrate his life and legacy.

Mr. Evans began his musical career at age five, as a chorister at Ecclesfield Parish Church in his native England.  He holds performance degrees from The Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music, and has appeared in London with The Michael Brewer Singers and The London Voices, as well as in the BBC "Proms".
After moving to the United States in 1991, Mr. Evans appeared regularly with The Waverly Consort, The Ensemble for Early Music, Pomerium, The Boston Camerata, and The Folger Consort. As a soloist, Mr. Evans has performed alongside such distinguished artists as Emma Kirkby, Max Von Egmond, and Mira Zakai.  He made his Lincoln Center debut in Bach`s "B-Minor Mass" with Joshua Rifkin.  In 1998 Mr.Evans was part of a new production of Kurt Weill`s "Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny" as part of the Salzburg Festival.
As a member of the prestigeous vocal quintet "Hudson Shad" he has performed on Germany's biggest stages - Dresden Semper Oper, Prinzregentehtheater Munich, Alter Oper Frankfurt and at the Salzburg Festival.  Mr. Evans made his Broadway debut with Hudson Shad in a musical production called "Banned in Berlin", the life and times of the "Comedian Harmonists".  In 2015 Mr. Evans made his Carnegie Hall debut and in 2017 performed with Hudson Shad and the BBC Symphony as well as the "Mexico National Symphony" together with Ute Lemper.
Mr. Evans sings regularly with the NDR Choir in Hamburg and is two times recipient of an Echo-Klassik prize - 2009 with The Belgian Ensemble "Huelgas" and 2015 with "Ensemble Phoenix Munich".
